With friends like these…

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee once again this week tried to appear even-handed in the “Arab-Israeli conflict,” as he visited an Arab town. Huckabee claimed that purported clashes between Israeli citizens and Arabs were violence forged by Jewish troublemakers. As reported by NPR:
“Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, says he will continue to denounce what he calls acts of terrorism against Palestinians by settlers in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. However, he says the U.S. is limited in its power to curb the escalating violence, which has spiked dramatically this year.
“Ambassador Mike Huckabee referred to the settlers as terrorists during a visit Saturday to the Palestinian town of Turmus Ayya. He visited with relatives of Palestinian-Americans killed by settlers. Many of the residents there are U.S. citizens.”
You have to understand, NPR is a leftist media platform, despising Israel and conservatives in general. As an aside, notice their wording: “Israeli-occupied ‘West Bank.’” NPR is political propaganda masquerading as news. Those two paragraphs I quoted are loaded with hate from NPR.
More important, Huckabee, I think in order to maintain his political viability in an administration appearing harsher to Israel now, needs to side with the Arabs. The thing you have to remember is, in the last hundred years, Arab violence committed against Jews is gargantuan. The reverse situation is infinitesimal. It reminds us Christian Zionists that we have to be careful to embrace anyone that appears to be a friend.
In my view, the only thing Western diplomats should be saying publicly in the last three years is that we will not forget October 7, 2023. And in this week especially, we will not forget how the Arabs danced in the streets on September 11, 2001. Yet American diplomats now must smack Israel’s hand over some altercation in Judea-Samaria.
David Friedman this week on X addressed Huckabee (quote is unedited):
“To my dear friend Mike Huckabee, No one doubts where your heart is. Your support for Israel is unwavering and historic. There is violence in Judea and Samaria — there has been for many years. But Jews don’t wake up in the morning saying “I’m going to go kill a Palestinian today.” The opposite, of course, is not true — hundreds and hundreds of Jewish residents of J&S have been murdered by Palestinian terrorists. Most Palestinian residents of J&S cheered 9/11, 10/7, support Hamas and want to push the Jews out of all of Israel, not just J&S. So of course there is violence between Jews and Arabs in Judea and Samaria. But the two questions are 1) why does it exist, and 2) how is it being used by Israel’s enemies?”
Friedman’s admonition is brilliant, as usual. One response though reminds us that study Bible prophecy that America is speeding toward the fulfillment of Zechariah, when Israel will end up alone:
“It’s the West Bank David, stop living in ur revisionist fantasy world. The violence would stop if Israel stayed within its borders recognized by the rest of the world. You amuse me when u try to compare the deaths and suffering of Israelis to Palestinians. There’s no comparison.”
There are too many people like this in the world. And too many NPRs.
Increasingly, also, too many Mike Huckabees.
