Also, in December 1995 and January 1996, Secretary of State Warren Christopher hosted talks between Israel and Syria at the Wye River Plantation in Maryland.

Snow started to fall during the Blizzard of 1996 on January 6, 1996 and lasted through January 10. But conditions leading to the storm had started to form on January 4. The storm affect the mid-Atlantic and Northeast portions of the United States and caused $ 3 billion in damage.
