Nuclear Terrorism Via Iran; U.S., Israel Will Act To Prevent It
By Bill Wilson, KIN senior analyst
WASH—May 10—KIN—The possibility of nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists is far too risky a proposition to chance for the United States and Israel, and both nations are preparing their fallback options in the case of Iran’s continued march toward joining the nuclear club.
At the diplomatic storefront, the U.S. is heavily invested in the European Union Three negotiations (France, Germany and Britain) with Iran that have fallen flat. Time and again, American diplomats from the State Department to the White House have pointed toward the talks as their hope for Iran standing down with its nuclear program.
State’s acting spokesman Tom Casey told reporters, “We certainly believe and we're united with the European Union, with the Russians and many others in the view that Iran must not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapons capability; and certainly, if it carries through with its threats to resume uranium conversion or testing or production or any other aspects of its program, that step would be in clear violation of its suspension pledge and its agreement with the EU-3.”
In violation Iran is, as Monday the rogue terrorist state announced that it converted 37 tons of raw uranium into gas, and it is prepared to begin its enrichment program within days. Nuclear experts say that when fully processed, the 37 tons of yellowcake can theoretically yield more than 200 pounds of weapons-grade uranium, enough to make five crude nuclear weapons.
Now even Russian President Vladimir Putin is backpedaling over Iran’s intent. Putin has insisted all along that Russia has received assurances that Iran will not develop nuclear weapons with the technology Russia is providing. However, two weeks ago in his historic visit to Israel, Putin made some very disturbing, if not foretelling, remarks about his terrorist customer.
Putin said Russia’s agreement with Iran requires it to return all its spent nuclear fuel to Russia so it cannot be used for military purposes. Then he admitted in a Jerusalem news conference, "I agree that these steps are not enough and we have to get Iran to agree to nuclear inspections. It is necessary for our Iranian partners to reject the creation of nuclear cycle technology and not hinder placing all its nuclear program under complete international control.”
Putin’s remarks indicate that either Russia has been betrayed by Iran or Iran’s intentions were understood from the beginning and only now is Putin putting a KGB-like spin on the propaganda top. And Putin is agreeing to cooperate with the EU-3 and the U.S. in trying to solve the problem he has created. Nevertheless, Israel and the U.S. are endangered by Putin’s reckless actions to put nuclear technology in the hands of terrorists irrespective of whether Russia is trying to rebuild its pre-cold war influence in the Middle East.
The U.S., while trying to exhaust all diplomatic channels, is laying out its military options on the war room table. There are three under consideration, according to military experts interviewed in an in-depth expose by Fox News on Sunday. First, a naval blockade which would theoretically bring Iran’s economy to a screeching halt by letting oil shipments sit in the gulf ports; second, covert action where secret military forces would be dropped deep into Iran and sabotage Iran’s nuclear facilities; and third, surgical air strikes using sophisticated weapons to destroy the facilities. A fourth option, an all out assault, could also be considered, but is unlikely given that U.S. troops are already heavily committed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Bible is full of prophetic revelation about Persia (modern day Iran) and Babylon (located in Iraq). It is no secret that Iran plays an integral role in end-time prophecy. The apocalyptic country is also teamed with Gog (modern day Russia) in a monstrous battle with Israel (Ezekiel 38, 39) that some believe marks the beginning of the rise of the anti-Christ and the start of the tribulation. Babylon is both symbolically and literally represented throughout the prophecies of Jeremiah and John’s Revelation. These moves by Iran today will most assuredly impact the real time fulfillment of prophecy as it unfolds.
