China, India Reach Trade
Agreement; One-Third Of World’s
Population In End-Time Alliance?

WASH—Apr 11—KIN—A landmark agreement that unifies one-third of the world’s population by ending border disputes and facilitating trade and military cooperation was signed over the weekend by China and India, possibly bringing into clearer focus yet another end-time alliance that shifts the balance of power in Asia and the Middle East.

"India and China can together reshape the world order," Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said at a ceremony with his Chinese counterpart, Premier Wen Jiabao. The statement announcing the partnership was signed by both premiers and said the agreement would promote diplomatic relations, economic ties and contribute to the two nations "jointly addressing global challenges and threats." The agreement calls for an increase in trade between the nations to $20 billion by 2008. Last year, trade totaled $13.6 billion, with India recording a trade surplus of $1.75 billion, according to India's trade ministry. China suggested a free trade area between the two countries, which would make it the largest free trade area in the world. During their talks, Wen and Singh agreed to set up a panel of experts to study the feasibility and benefits that would accrue from establishing such a trade area.

The 11-point plan to settle the border dispute was finalized Sunday at a meeting between India's National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan and China's Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo, the leader of the Chinese delegation to the talks. The plan states that the countries would consider historical factors, geographical features, people living in the area, security and whether the area was currently under Indian or Chinese control when marking the border.

The agreement underscores one of the greatest fears expressed in a report by the Central Intelligence Agency earlier this year—that China, with a growing economy and military to match, is becoming the main global rival to the United States. The National Intelligence Council (NIC), the think-tank of the Director of Central Intelligence, in its study, "Mapping the Global Future," forecasts the rise of India and China as potential global powers by the year 2020. Of the two countries, only China, whose GDP is predicted in the NIC document to overtake America's by the year 2042, is clearly the aggressive competitor of the United States. The study indicated that one way the U.S. could counter the Chinese threat was through a strategic relationship with India—something that seems tenuous now that the U.S. government rewarded Pakistan, India’s archenemy, for its cooperation in the war on terror by selling to Pakistan F-16 fighter aircraft.

It is widely reported that China is involved with providing missile technology to Iran and Syria, enemies both of Israel. Russia is also supplying nuclear and missile technology to Iran, who says it will not stand down on its nuclear program. These two nations, Russia and China, are feeding the Arab/Islamic nations of the Middle East with weaponry that threatens Israel, playing undeniably into end-time prophecy.

India’s end-time role has been clouded until this agreement. China recognizes India as a nuclear and economic power and wants to harness that resource with its own manufacturing strength. On Sunday, Wen visited the southern city of Bangalore, India's technology hub, and said the two nations should put aside their rivalry and instead pool their resources. He said India and China can together lead the world in information technology, heralding a new "Asian century." This begs the question whether India plays an end-time role from a Bible prophecy perspective. Perhaps India becomes part of the Ezekiel 38 prophecy (where Gog, Magog Persia, Libya and Ethiopia war against Israel) when the Scythians are considered.

Josephus, the great historian, traces the Scythians to Magog. The Scythians were nomadic invaders originating in western China and eventually settling in the area of Kazakhstan, Pakistan and India. Their land, called Scythia, is in modern times considered Euroasia, Kazakhstan, Ukrainian, Pakistan and Northern India, even part of southwestern China, and Mongolia. The Scythians were a nomadic people who are believed to have originated in China, probably even as far north as Mongolia (which won its independence from China in 1921 with the help of Russia). The Scythians likely came from Magog somewhere in southwestern to central China, though nobody knows for sure. The Scythians migrated into Central Asia and settled into very eastern (modern) Russia, India, and even Iran.

With the current relationship between Russia and China, and China and India, after China having been in bloody disputes over mutual borders with India and Russia, the Ezekiel 38 prophecy could well mean a Russian-Chinese-Indian alliance from the general area of the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey (a part of the Roman Empire that is now coming back into the revitalized Roman Empire, the EU), Southwestern China, India Mongolia, and Persia, Libya and Ethiopia.

Grant Jeffrey, in his book “Triumphant Return” suggests Revelation 16:12 points to a secret military super highway that has already been constructed from mainland China across southern Asia that connects China to Pakistan, Kazakhstan, India, and Euroasia. He is referring primarily to how a 100-million-soldier force will gather for the battle of Armageddon.
